Jumbuck have completed their first Dolby Atmos Project, with more to come in the near future.
David Drake, whose recent work includes Fleabag S2 (Two Brothers Pictures) and The End of the Fucking World (Clerkenwell Films for Channel 4 and Netflix), has mixed Bounty Hunters S2 in the format, which marks Jumbuck’s first completed Dolby Atmos mix.
Atmos was first released in 2012, but is slowly becoming more mainstream. As opposed to traditional 5.1 or 7.1 Surround Sound, Dolby Atmos uses up to 64 speaker channels spread evenly across a room including on the ceiling. With Netflix already providing Atmos content to users with an Ultra HD package, and Apple TV set to begin supporting it, the technology is here to stay.
It was announced that Sky had ordered a second series of Bounty Hunters in late 2017, following the hit first series, which was Sky One's most successful sit-com launch in six years and attracted 1.4 million viewers.
In preparation for mixing Bounty Hunters, Jumbuck invested in the latest Dolby hardware and software, giving us the capability of preparing and mixing Dolby Atmos. Using the Dolby Atmos Production Suite, we are also able to fold down the Dolby Atmos Master File (DAMF) to create traditional 5.1 and Stereo mixes for domestic broadcast as required.
Bounty Hunters S2 is not Jumbuck's only Dolby Atmos project in the pipeline with Top Boy S3 (Cowboy Films) kicking off in March amongst others.
